Legislator visits Arizona City Veterans

Veterans of Arizona City had a great turnout at the meeting on 4-20-2023, Guests included:

· Mike Oldham from Elks Lodge in Casa Grande came talk about what they do and share with us about their upcoming “Ride for the Wall” event coming up on May 17th. (Please see flier)

· Lt Allan Rodgers, provided updates from the Arizona Rangers

· Veteran Burton Kephart, shared with us about his beloved son Spc. Jonathan Kephart who gave his life protecting his squad in Iraq on April 8th, 2004. He has written about this in a booklet called “Proven In Battle”. The booklet “Proven In Battle" is a true story about real heroes, real bravery, real grief, and a real faith that sustained the Kephart family during such a tragic loss.” These are free of charge so please contact us if you would like copies.

· Captain Ernie Lopez of the Arizona City Fire District shared with us that Water Days will be starting up again May 31st. It will be Mon, Wed, Fri from 10-12PM and run for 8 weeks. They are in need of volunteers. (Please contact fire station) Drinks (Capri Sun, bottled water) will be provided, along with lunch (Hot dogs and Lays potatoes chips, plain). The Spaghetti dinners will resume in September. CPR training is also in the works.

· And finally, we had Teresa Martinez (R), State House Legislator, Majority Whip of the Arizona House of Representatives. She shared with us her passion for helping the people of Arizona, whether legislatively or helping cut through the red tape when trying to contact various state and even federal agencies for her constituents. Also, fiscally making sure, through audits as needed, that the citizens are getting what their hard-earned tax dollars are paying for. She is also soliciting for ideas for upcoming projects.
